Grant and Erin have been involved in horses before they could even say the word "horse"!
Erin began riding at the age of two and not before long she was competing at gaming and pleasure classes in the 4-H horse program at the county fair. During her 4-H years she won numerous trips to compete at the Minnesota State Fair. Erin continued to show her horses in bigger venues and eventually ventured into other areas of performance classes such as: team penning and team sorting where she has won 2 buckles and other awards in the last few years. Erin has won many barrel racing awards throughout her years of riding whether that was at local shows and jackpots or at the State Champ Show or State Fair. Currently Erin is competing at jackpots, WSCA events and rodeos to earn points towards the Minnesota Barrel Racing Association; where she finished in the top 10 in 2005, 2006, 2007 and was the Open Champion in 2008 & 2009.She was also the NBHA MN 01 1D Champion in 2009. In 2010 she finished in the top 5 for MBRA and NBHA 01. She also won 1D money on her futurity horse, Sweet Painted Fire, who is a daughter of Strait Firewater and is now continuing her success with Erin’s niece, Maddy Ritter. In the summer months Erin enjoys giving riding lessons. There is nothing more rewarding than teaching a young person the techniques and drills to become a better rider, watching them work hard, learn and become successful by the things you have taught them.
Grant was also very young when he started riding. He enjoyed attending over night trail rides and gaming events with his family in his early childhood. It was not too long before he was training his own horses and then started training outside horses at the age of 14. Grant has been a member of the Minnesota Men’s Barrel Racing Association for 7+ years. He finished second in year end standings in 2005 and was in the top 10 the last four years. At the 2009 Midwest Match Race, Grant ran the fastest time of the Sunday Men’s Match competition on Six Moons Guy. Six Moons Guy was trained for barrels by Grant and the duo also had a successful futurity year (2009) by placing in the Amateur at the 5 State Breeders’ Futurity, Fizz Bomb Futurity and also were Reserve Champions at the WSCA Champ Show Futurity. Grant has been competing at the Minnesota Champ Show for many years and has placed in numerous gaming events. He also enjoys team sorting and won a buckle in sorting competition in 2008. Grant has been very successful in starting young horses and is currently taking limited outside horses in for training.
Whatever venue it may be; trail riding, team sorting, or barrel racing, Grant and Erin have a proven track record of being dedicated and successful in training and showing performance horses and will continue this dream together as they move into the future!
